Fibromyalgia
- Hanerdos in 1991, eight sessions of
hypnotism produced positive results.
- MindBody medicine is used to treat fibromyalgia.
In Nashua, New Hampshire, the Matthew Thornton Health Plan has a very
successful behavioral medicine pain program for patients with fibromyalgia.
- Acupuncture is used in the treatment of
fibromyalgia. Dr. David J. Ramsay told the NIH in 1997 that acupuncture data
was as strong as that supporting accepted Western medical therapies.
- Homeopathy can be effective in treating
fibromyalgia. A 1989 study by Dr. Peter Fisher indicated that 25 percent more
of the homeopathically treated fibromyalgia patients experienced pain relief
than those receiving a placebo. Almost twice as many had improved sleep.
- Spinal manipulation may be helpful for fibromyalgia. A small
body of published clinical evidence now suggests that spinal manipulation may
be helpful for some patients.
